The College STAR (Supporting Transition, Access, and Retention) project is a UNC system-wide initiative to improve student learning through direct support to students and professional development opportunities to faculty. Funded by the Oak Foundation, with additional local support from the North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation, the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation, the Cemala Foundation, the Weaver Foundation, the Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation, and the Michel Family Foundation, the overall goal of the project is to promote awareness of learning differences among UNCG students and to develop strategies based in University Design for Learning (UDL)that enhance our ability to support UNCG students’ diverse learning needs. East Carolina University and Appalachian State University are our partners in this grant. The three campuses will share resources and expertise to develop local support systems that best meet campus-based needs.
